Storyline

The Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, originally known as the Royale, is located at 242 West 45th Street, in the Theatre District of Midtown Manhattan, New York City. Irwin S. Chanin, a real estate entrepreneur, commissioned Herbert J. Krapp to create the Spanish-inspired theatre, which he opened in 1927. The auditorium's interior and its front are both designated New York City landmarks. Following the inaugural musical Piggy, the Mae West play, Diamond Lil, became the theatre’s first major hit.
