Oscar-winning author Emerald Fennel of Promising Young Woman and Killing Eve fame writes the original story and book for the musical with lyrics by Tony Award-winner David Zippel. Bad Cinderella features music from the legendary English composer and impresario of musical theatre, Baron Andrew Lloyd Webber who has won multiple prestigious awards. Laurence Connor (Les Misérables) directs the musical and JoAnn M. Hunter (School of Rock) choreographs the same. The tale has been somewhat reworked from the famous story of the same name, with new gender roles, and addresses beauty shaming.
Storyline
The meadows are gorgeous, the prince is charming, and the locals are stunning in the incredibly beautiful kingdom of Belleville. Cinderella is the only unyielding peasant who stands in the way of absolute perfection. The equally unappreciated Prince Sebastian is Cinderella's lone companion in Belleville. He is thrown into the spotlight when his older brother, Prince Charming, inexplicably vanishes. Prince Sebastian must select a bride at the ball and lead an unhappy life as the next royal heir. Cinderella visits the Godmother, who can fix any problem, as she faces the possibility of losing the one person she has ever cared about to the crown. Do they get a happily ever after?
