BOOP! The Betty Boop Musical was originally conceived in 2004 but only found solid footing nearly a decade later with a 2023 production in Chicago. Directed and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell with music from Grammy-winning composer David Foster, the show - and its leading lady Jasmine Amy Rogers - earned praise for its music and choreography. The dream team now reunites for a 2025 production, their sights set on the big Broadway stage.
Betty Boop debuted in the 1930s as a canine Jazz Age flapper, voiced by Mae Questel. The black-and-white star soon became the only female animated screen star of the era, appearing in over 100 cartoons alongside her bestie, Bimbo.
But Betty's life is missing something; she yearns for adventure, she yearns for song and dance, she yearns for life in technicolor - she yearns for a grand escape from her town into the sparkling modern world of New York City. Make way for the newest leading lady in town!
