A collaboration between producer George Broadhurst and the Shubert brothers, the Broadhurst Theatre opened in 1917 with George Bernard Shaw's Misalliance. It would go on to have a successful run, and despite some ups and downs through its century of existence, it has remained steadily booked. Its stage has seen the likes of Leslie Howard, Katherine Hepburn, and Diane Keaton.
Designed with simplicity in mind, the venue's productions are anything but simple. It has staged shows from all genres and eras, ranging from Shakespearean greats to modern classics like Mamma Mia!, Grease, Chicago, and more recently, A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical.

The venue is over 100 years old.
The theater was constructed in 1917.
The theater gets its name from George Broadhurst, a British-American theatrical producer who leased the venue before its opening. Known for crafting melodramas that offered a profound study of morals, some of his works include What Happened to Jones, Why Smith Left Home, The Man of the Hour, and The Crimson Alibi.

The raked sections provide a decent view of the stage from all areas of the theater. The Center Orchestra and Center Mezzanine offer some of the best views at decent rates, while the middle of the Center Orchestra tends to have pricier seats with great views. The rows right at the front offer restricted sight lines of the sides of the stage, though front rows of each section offer better legroom.
There is no dress code at this theater. While most theaters tend to be kept cool all year round, this venue is known for being warmer than most. Dress lightly and bring an extra sweater or jacket during colder months.
Prices vary based on show times, seats selected, season, and more. Tickets for A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical currently starts at $67.10.
The theater sells a limited menu of food and drinks at the concessions stands in the lobby.
If theater concessions aren't your jam, try the Playwright Celtic Pub for beers and pub grub or Butter for cocktails and chatter. For cuisine-based delights, try the Japanese menu at Haru Sushi or Italian at John's of Times Square. For dessert, give Junior's a try.
There is plenty to do in the theater district. For classic sights, there's Times Square and Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum. For theater aficionados, there is the Museum of Broadway. For travelers looking to do something fresh, there's everything from escape rooms and alleys with novelty stores and bookshops to skyscrapers with unique views and backstories.
