The Broadhurst Theater The British-American playwright George Broadhurst built his theater in collaboration with the Shubert brothers. Opening to the public with George Bernard Shaw’s Misalliance in 1917, the Broadhurst Theater has been the stage for stars like Leslie Howard, Katherine Hepburn, and Diane Keaton.
The brickwork theater is designed in a minimalistic fashion, though it doesn’t compromise on its sound system and sight lighting. The architect, Herbert J Krapp, referred to it as the ‘Greek Theater.’ The space feels intimate despite seating over a thousand people, allowing audiences a chance to connect with the performers. The theater has staged Mamma Mia!, Grease, Chicago, and more recently, A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical.
