    • A Tony-winning dark comedy, Oh, Mary! stars comedian Meg Stalter, reimagining Mary Todd Lincoln’s life with wicked humor on Broadway.
    • A multi-award winner, the play earned Tony Awards for Best Leading Actor and Best Direction, plus Drama League and NY Drama Critics’ Circle honors.
    • Historical spoof and biting satire collide as the show explores unrequited yearning, suppressed desires, and the overlooked First Lady’s cabaret dreams.
    • Playing to packed crowds at the Lyceum Theatre, this runaway hit is hailed as “one of the best comedies in years”—a true Broadway standout.

Oh, Mary! is Broadway’s new Tony-winning sensation, putting a hilariously twisted spotlight on Mary Todd Lincoln’s forgotten dreams and desires. Created by Cole Escola and currently starring Meg Stalter in the lead role, this dark comedy play turns 19th-century history upside down. Directed by Sam Pinkleton, Oh, Mary! has swept major awards and earned critical raves for its bold humor and sharp satire. With a stellar cast and a unique, fast-paced one-act format, it’s a show for comedy lovers, history buffs, and anyone seeking a fresh Broadway voice.

    Storyline

Set in 1865 Washington, D.C., Oh, Mary! is a hilariously outrageous dark comedy that completely reimagines the weeks before Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. Instead of traditional history, the play shines a twisted spotlight on Mary Todd Lincoln. The First Lady is portrayed as a temperamental, miserable alcoholic trapped in a suffocating marriage to a closeted President. Desperate for escape and longing to return to her forgotten glory days as a cabaret star, Mary’s suppressed desires rapidly spiral out of control in this wildly absurd, fast-paced historical spoof exploring unrequited yearning and theatrical dreams.
