Storyline
Set in Hill Valley, California, the musical follows Marty McFly, whose family stands in stark contrast to his ambitions. When the disgruntled teenager goes to visit his scientist friend, Emmett ‘Doc’ Brown, he inadvertently gets transported back to 1955 in a time machine built using a modified DeLorean. All hell breaks loose when he gets entangled in the events of his past and starts altering his future by accident. The Winter Garden Theater has served as both a movie house and a United Artists cinema. One of the most iconic landmarks in New York City is the auditorium interior of the Winter Garden Theatre. Its architecture is exemplary of atmospheric theater, which aims to give the audience the impression that they are in an outdoor location. Latticework, garlands, leaves, and lamps create a garden atmosphere within the theater. Clouds are painted onto a sky-blue canvas that covers the ceiling. Watercolor paintings of pastoral settings cover the walls. The theater has one of Broadway's biggest auditoriums, which allows for a more intimate viewing experience. Its present layout is the result of a 1922 overhaul by Herbert J. Krapp, who lowered the proscenium arch and ceiling and embellished it with exquisite details.
