Come from Away is the award-winning Broadway musical that shares the story of 7000 people who get stranded in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, after US airspace is closed following the events of 9/11.
These “come from aways” are graciously welcomed into their community in the aftermath. The locals and passengers alike process the life-altering events while finding love, laughter, and hope and forge lifelong bonds of friendship.
This show is ideal for mature audiences and deals with finding hope even in the darkest of times and about the triumph of humanity in the face of adversity.
Storyline
Come From Away is the story of Gander and how its residents learn about the devastating 9/11 terrorist attacks. Soon after, 38 flights are forced to land at Gander Airport, and the town’s population doubles immediately. While the small Newfoundland town is not equipped to handle all stranded travelers, the local people quickly spring into action. The rest of the musical showcases surprising moments of kindness and warmth as the travelers begin to bond with the inhabitants. Friendships are forged and people make life-long connections with each other during these difficult times. Follow the heartwarming story of Gander, set against one of the greatest tragedies in the modern world.
