    Why watch SIX: The Musical?

    • Six The Musical on Broadway reimagines the lives of Henry VIII’s six wives as a pop concert, a sharp, witty “histo-remix” where the Queens take back their stories through powerhouse vocals and humour.
    • Created by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss while at Cambridge University, Six on Broadway evolved from a student project to a 26-time award-winner, including the 2022 Tony Awards for Best Original Score and Best Costume Design.
    • Each Queen embodies modern pop icons and divas, including Beyoncé, Avril Lavigne, Adele, Nicki Minaj, Britney Spears, and Alicia Keys, to reflect empowerment and boldness.
    • With a dynamic score by Marlow and Moss, the musical features hit numbers like Ex-Wives, Don’t Lose Ur Head, Heart of Stone, Get Down, and All You Wanna Do, fusing history with pop.
    • Now ruling the Lena Horne Theatre, the musical is “a celebration of sisterhood that’s smart, slick, and unapologetically fun” (The Guardian). Book your tickets to Six The Musical on Broadway!

Winner of 26 major awards worldwide, including the Tony Award for Best Original Score (2022), Six The Musical on Broadway gives voice to the six ex-wives of Henry VIII, telling their stories in their own words, set to an electrifying concert format. Written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, who conceived the idea at just 21 years old, Six began at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe Festival before transferring to London’s West End, where it earned five Olivier Award nominations, including Best Musical. The Broadway production, which premiered in 2021, has since become one of the most in-demand shows in New York.

Directed by Lucy Moss (the youngest woman ever to direct a Broadway musical) and Jamie Armitage, the show features vibrant choreography by Carrie-Anne Ingrouille, a dynamic set by Emma Bailey, and contemporary costuming by Gabriella Slade, blending Tudor-inspired silhouettes with modern fashion. The result is a show that’s historical, humorous, and completely current.

    Storyline

Tired of being defined by a man, six women take the mic. In Six The Musical on Broadway, the ex-wives of Henry VIII reunite as a girl group to decide who suffered the most under the King’s reign, but as they share their stories, they find power in solidarity rather than competition. Told entirely through song, Six on Broadway fuses pop anthems with razor-sharp humour, reframing history from a woman’s perspective and turning centuries of silence into a bold chorus of empowerment.
