Some Like It Hot, the 1959 comic caper starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon, was a huge commercial success and was nominated for six Oscars, of which it won two. Tony-winner Christian Borle, J. Harrison Ghee, and Adrianna Hicks take up the lead roles this time. The supporting cast includes Kevin Del Aguila, NaTasha Yvette Williams, Adam Heller, and Mark Lotito. Marc Shaiman has composed the music and collaborated with Scott Wittman for the lyrics. Casey Nicholaw takes the director’s mantle and is also the choreographer. A Tony nominee in both categories, Nicholaw is no stranger to leading spectacular shows.

The Story

The musical follows Joe and Jerry, musicians in Chicago, who happen to be witnesses to a murder. The murderers, not keen to leave behind any witnesses, are on the lookout for the duo. Joe and Jerry disguise themselves as women and join Sweet Sue and Her Society Syncopators, an all-female band headed to Miami. When it looks like their plan will work, they both start falling in love with the band’s lead singer Sugar Kane, who doesn’t know the truth and thinks of them as her confidantes.Will they be successful in their escape? Can the mob figure out what’s going on? Can Sugar Kane figure out what’s going on?
