The show was fantastic and it is a lovely experience to be at the Met. I purchased our tickets a few days before the event. First, I believe I was told that I would receive tickets in 1 hour. Then I was told by Headout that I would receive the tickets in 4 hours. Then another email said 24 to 48 hours. I did receive them but it was nerve- racking

    Why watch Aida?

    • Set in ancient Egypt at war, Aida tells a gripping tale of a woman torn between love and duty.
    • Soprano Angel Blue makes her highly-anticipated Met debut as Aida, one of opera’s defining roles and integral to one of the most iconic love triangles ever.
    • The Metropolitan Opera House’s production pairs opulent sets and costumes with projections and animations to bring the ancient kingdom of Egypt to the stage in all its gilded glory.
    • Verdi’s unmistakable sound elevates archeologist Auguste Mariette’s timeless story, with tracks like the haunting Celeste Aida being absolute standouts.

Aida is a grand, tragic opera set in ancient Egypt, during a period of turmoil and war. Conceived by French archeologist and founder of the Egyptian Museum of Cairo, Auguste Mariette, the story made its way to composer Giuseppe Verdi who crafted a richly haunting musical landscape to match the gut-wrenching story of an epic love and a devastating war.

    Storyline

Aida follows the titular princess, daughter of the Ethiopian king Amonasro, who finds herself enslaved in service of Princess Amneris, daughter of the Egyptian king. Both princesses, deeply in love with the general Radamès, find themselves having to choose between love and loyalty, as the looming war threatens both kingdoms.
