Completed in 1939, The McKittrick Hotel was intended to be New York City's finest luxury hotel. With a Hitchcock-inspired name and a haunting theme that culminated in a rooftop bar named for the witch trials, this space had it all. However, World War II had other plans for the Mckittrick: it was soon condemned and sealed. The abandoned space was eventually brought back to life by Emursive in collaboration with the British theater company Punchdrunk. The newly transformed space opened its doors to the public in 2011 with an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth titled Sleep No More.
