Among the top contenders, Death Becomes Her, Maybe Happy Ending, and Buena Vista Social Club led the nominations with ten each—and they didn’t go home empty-handed.

Gypsy

Romeo + Juliet
A daring, contemporary take on Shakespeare’s tragedy that used immersive staging and multimedia to appeal to modern audiences, securing it top revival honors.
