While now beloved for its Christmas Spectacle Starring Radio City Rockettes, its beginnings were a little less illustrious, The complex was set up in an area designated for the new Metropolitan Opera House in 1929, right around the stock market crash that brought the city to a grinding halt and derailed the MET construction plans.
