It is a very nice show, amazing for the magnificent representations of animals (I loved the giraffes), the bright colors, the nice and peculiar mix with the public. And what can I say... the great performances, the voices and songs, the musicians, in short.... all beautiful. Highly recommended. It will be a memory that will always remain in the retina.

    Why watch The Lion King?

    • Based on the massively popular 1994 Disney film of the same name, the musical has been directed for the stage by the Tony Award-winning Julie Taymor and has reached theatergoers in more than 100 cities in 21 countries in more than 9 languages.
    • A delight for children and adults alike, this touching tale of family, destiny, adventure, perseverance, and love has been translated onstage through spectacular sets, awe-inspiring choreography, soulful music, and beautiful storytelling.
    • The Disney classic features an iconic soundtrack by Elton John and Tim Rice. Complementing the remarkable sets and storyline, the memorable music transports the audiences to the African savanna.

The Lion King musical officially premiered on Broadway on November 13, 1997, and won six awards at the 1998 Tony Awards. This included some of the most coveted categories like Best Musical, Best Choreography, Best Direction of a Musical, and others. Julie Taymor’s direction, her collaboration with Michael Curry on mask and puppet design, the renowned soundtrack by Elton John and Tim Rice, the stunning choreography of Garth Fagan, and the efforts of several other cast and crew members, over the years, have made The Lion King a theatrical phenomenon like no other.

    Storyline

The story is set in the Pridelands of Africa, in the land ruled by the fair King Mufasa. When his son, Simba, is born, the whole of the Pridelands erupts in joy. But nefarious forces, too, are stirred. For Mufasa’s brother, Scar, the throne gets even farther out of his reach, with the arrival of young Simba. Scar’s manipulations manage to drive Simba away from his rightful throne. He grows up in exile far away, getting into great adventures with his friends Timon, Pumba, and others while Scar terrorizes the Pridelands as the new King. Will Simba ever go back? Will he be able to win back what is rightfully his? Book your The Lion King on Broadway tickets to find out.

The show itself was amazing (Lion King), but the crowd dampened the experience alot. There were many kids under 5 around our seats and their constant talking, crying, eating, asking and playing distracted us from the show and almost ruined the whole experience. There were also many adults that were talking and taking photos with flash during the show, which was also disappointing. But the show and music was still amazing, but I wouldn't see it again, unless Broadway changes their policy surrounding children and are stricter with rules regarding filming the show.
